How we work

We find out what you need, and then we work with you.

The focus is the client relationship: finding out what you actually need, and then being able to deliver on it. That is different from being told by other advisors what to do, rather than collaborating with us as partners to get the outcomes you need.

No blue sky advice, only grounded solutions that give results beyond expectations.

Our purpose: the best financial and personal outcomes for everyone involved: our clients, the team, our business and our business partners. Synergistic outcomes that can not be achieved through self interest!

What that looks like

We ask first. The first conversation is about your situation, what you need, and how we fulfil that.

We say what we think. The answer that you came for, even if you did not know it at the start.

We stay with it. The work others avoid is usually the work that takes more than one conversation to deliver.

We partner with your other advisors, here and overseas, to get your outcomes outside our boundaries.

We work as one team. With each other and with you, because the outcome is better than any one of us working alone.

The point of difference

Three kinds of work most practices in this market do not take.

Every accountant lists the same services. These are the three places where the answer is usually no, and where ours is usually yes.

An Australian passport
01

International tax

The Australian side of a picture that does not stop at the border, for clients with interests in more than one country and for the overseas advisors who send them to us, getting the Australian side right. We work with local specialists in each country rather than claiming to be them, an important element of the international strategy.

It is technical and it carries risk, which is why few will venture into it. Careful commercial strategies to mitigate the tax risks.

02

Troubleshooting

Identifying and resolving the issue underneath the accounts and giving you the strategy to get the outcome. It means asking the hard questions and getting into that uncomfortable space where the solution resides and is rarely seen because the problem does not get resolved from outside it.

Not many accountants are prepared to go into that space.

03

Not-for-profits

Set-up and ongoing support for not-for-profit organisations, treated as its own area of work rather than as a corporate set-up with a different name on it.

Not many accountants go into the not-for-profit space. Purpose built structures to maximise the outcomes whilst mitigating the risks.

The rest of it

And the ordinary work, done properly.

The compliance has to be right before anything above it is worth anything. We take care of all of it.

Accounting and compliance

Bookkeeping and accounts preparation. Financial statements monthly, quarterly or annually. Tax compliance, returns and BAS.

Advisory and reporting

Management reporting and the advice that comes with it, at the level a chief financial officer would give, without one on the payroll.

Structuring

Business and investment structuring, and corporate set-up. The decisions that determine how much tax and risk a structure carries for years after.

Succession and estate planning

Business succession, estate planning, and family wealth protection, worked through with the other advisors a family already has.

Self-managed super funds

Advice and compliance for SMSFs, the super funds members run themselves.

In practice

What the work others avoid can be worth.

Shared without names. Client details are never published.

Almost doubled value

of a business sale by working with our business succession partners rather than traditional business brokers.

$240,000+

in tax savings found for a family business group in the first year of working with them, after correcting the previous accountant’s errors.

$200,000+

saved in tax from shifting the loan repayment strategy from 2 years to 7 years.
